Fiction by Jeanne Grunert: The Majek Family Mysteries

The popularity of the Majek Family Mysteries took Jeanne by surprise. The series was inspired both by stories told to her by her great-uncle, who worked as a plumber for the many Gold Coast Estates. His stories of the haunted Woolworth Mansion where he worked on the gold-plated faucets fascinated Jeanne.

During the years Jeanne lived on the North Shore of Long Island, she worked next door to Chelsea Mansion (now Muttontown Nature Preserve) and also experienced a personal tour of Oheka Castle, the famous mansion built by Otto Herman Kahn, when it was under renovation. It was her visit to Oheka and her many walks around the ruins of the mansion at Target Rock that inspired White Oak Hall, the haunted mansion in I See You.

Genre-Defying Fiction

Jeanne’s work defies categorization. Although mainly mystery novels, her works also blend family sagas, character-driven plots, and of course, the ghostly happenings, into the drama.
